the lovely model Bella and I were taking in sun at Santa Monica's beautiful 3rd Street Promenade, when I was accosted by this strange fellow.
As it turns out, his name is Zuni (I hope I spelled it right in case he is a suscribes to DA) He is a street performer that apparently rakes in the dough, performing there. although I don't know what exactly it is he does, other than eat Cheetos and show off a little man he has attached to a leash.
In any case, he charged me a dollar to take his picture. And to add insult to injury: right as I was clicking the shutter he made a face! Whatcha gonna do?

hope you like,
Derby

Monkeys in show buisness never seem to hide their bitterness... particuarly the organ grinder variety.

This is great... His expression is fantastic, looks like he's gonna murder you! I dig the hat too. The only thing that bothers me is the chain thing. I'm a big animal person so I hate to see that kind of thing but that's not really got anything to do with the shot... I'd say it was worth the dollar!

Nice shot, can't see much to critique except maybe the levels, although a hard shot to keep detail because of his deep set eyes, go any blacker and you lose detail - it's a tricky one... Overall, I love it because it has great character and it's not something you see everyday (..certainly not in Ireland!) which is one of the things I love most about photography; you can see stuff that you don't see everyday.

Take care Derb,

Rob.

I have to admit to you dude. This was an incredible experience, as a photographer. Normally I am in the studio, or in some controlled location, with a human being, who is there for me to take pictures, and is patient, and for whom it is forgivable to make some mistake before I hit it dead on. But I often wonder, when it comes right down to it, when it is time to get that one shot, when there is one perfect moment that you have to hit it right on, where there is no warmups, or trial runs, when it is make or break, do I have what it takes?

i had one chance with this guy. I had all the time that it took for him to take the dollar from my hand. He looked at me for one split second, and I got it.

And for the rest of the day, I felt like a god.

Thanks man. I just don't think he could have made a better face for the shot. What a ham.
